Gosforth Garden Village Tennis Club

About Us

The club has two tennis courts with an artificial grass surface. The courts lie opposite to the Bowling Club on Rosewood Avenue. Our membership is around 35 seniors and a keen junior membership reaching 50. Junior membership is aged from 7 upwards. Everybody tends to know everybody as we are a small friendly club.

Club policy has been to keep the membership subscription modest to allow access for people of different means in the community. Our membership is open to all.

Tennis at the Club

During the summer seniors evenings for play are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursdays is the coaching evening for juniors and the coaching  programme is run by a professional coach. Friday evening is also for junior play.

The courts are all weather so available for play during the day throughout the year and there are organised senior mixed sessions on Saturday afternoons, weather permitting.

Competition tennis is another aspect of the club. In this last year the club had three teams playing in various leagues.  The club also organizes a range of social events.

How to join

We are looking for new senior members. Interested? Then come along and join us on one of the club nights ( Monday or Wednesday initially ). A prospective new member pays a visitors fee. This is intended to allow them to “find out about the club”. The fee is £ 3.00 for a session.

If you would like to know more about us you can contact:
Norma Moffett (secretary) at 0191 2653170 or
Brian Wright (treasurer) at 0191 2654539.

Visitor fees are paid for only 3 sessions, after which we hope you will have decided on whether to join. The visitor’s fees can be deducted from club membership on joining.
